The ancient Mayan ruins of Palenque are one of the most famous cultural sites in southeastern Mexico. The first section of the Maya Train, a railway constructed by the China Communications Construction Company, is expected to depart from Palenque City. Once completed, the project will significantly improve transport links in southeastern Mexico, boost tourism and help to revitalize Mayan culture.
