Established in around 420 AD along the Yellow River, a series of Buddhist sculptures were carved into the natural caves to form a famous temple in Gansu Province. Known as the Bingling Temple, it is now home to around 183 caves, 694 stone sculptures and 82 clay sculptures, each holding important artistic value. Along with other sites along the Silk Road, the temple was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
