China and the United States recently held a new round of foreign policy planning consultation on Friday in New York.

The consultation was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Miao Deyu and Salman Ahmed, director of the U.S. Secretary of State's Policy Planning Staff, Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on the international situation and other issues, the ministry said in a statement.
