As an important component of the ancient Silk Road, Xinjiang has always been a place where diverse cultures and civilizations intersect. In this episode, we invited renowned scholars Colin Mackerras and Barry Sautman. They shared their observations and experiences in Xinjiang, as well as how Xinjiang has developed from a border region to a vibrant and opportunistic place. 

Professor Mackerras pointed out that "Xinjiang’s economy has changed enormously. People are more confident, and the standard of living has increased enormously." Professor Sautman added, " The education level in Xinjiang has greatly improved, younger people can speak Mandarin and still retain their ethnic languages."
